| The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton is launching a new professional development series designed to offer workplace training for business owners and employees. Chamber College will consist of 12 separate sessions this year. The seminars will be led by experts in various fields in our region â strategy experts, financial and accounting pros, IT experts and marketing gurus. The first Chamber College session will be held March 8 in partnership with CPA New Brunswick. The topic will be Effective Tax Strategies for Business. âWe know business owners and managers often struggle to present real training opportunities for their teams,â Chamber CEO John Wishart said. âChamber College is our way of providing a wide range of topics and up-skilling opportunities that will appeal to both owner/managers and their employees.â Providing professional development is an increasingly important part of employee retention. At a time when the southeast region of the province is facing a severe labour challenge, the CCGM sees Chamber College as a way it can support members in their retention efforts. Each of the 12 events will be self-contained but will count toward âcreditsâ for a company or their employee, Wishart explained. By attending at least three events, the Chamber will award the company or employee a certificate of achievement that can become part of their training plan. The best thing of all,– this program is completely free. Sponsorship opportunities for Chamber College are now available. Topics already identified for the first year of Chamber College include: marketing and best use of social media, financial and accounting basics, IT and cybersecurity, leadership and strategy, and HR and employee attraction and retention.
