The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton mourns the passing of Claudette Bradshaw, community leader and tireless advocate for the vulnerable

Moncton (NB) — It is with profound sadness that the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton recognizes the passing of Claudette Bradshaw. A tireless advocate for the most vulnerable members of our community. Claudette Bradshaw spent much of her life leading the battle to address homelessness, mental health and at-risk children and youth in our community and beyond.

“The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton is deeply saddened by the passing of Claudette Bradshaw, a pioneer in advocating for the poor, homeless and marginalized in our community,” said John Wishart, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton. “Her work to establish Moncton Headstart, as Canada’s first minister responsible for homelessness, as coordinator of the Mental Health Commission of Canada and her leadership to develop the Housing First model of care which led to creation of the At Home/Chez Soi Program in Greater Moncton, are enduring legacies.”

Born and raised in Moncton, Claudette Bradshaw spent all her time and energy in the service of others. In 2010, she was named a recipient of the Order of Moncton and praised for being the “voice and defender of the impoverished and underprivileged” in her home community.
“As many community partners work today to solve the complex challenge of homelessness, we would do well to follow in Claudette’s footsteps, and embrace her compassion and selfless dedication to service above self.”

Claudette will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The Chamber board and team extend heartfelt condolences to her family.
