Premier Susan Holt Chancery Place P.O. Box 6000 Fredericton, N.B. E3B 5H1

Premier Holt,

On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton, I want to congratulate you and your team on both your election victory and the swearing-in of your new cabinet and MLAs.

Your cabinet represents a diverse cross-section of regions, language, gender and talents, and bodes well for the important work your government is about to undertake on behalf of New Brunswick citizens. We are eager to see your platform commitments translated into government legislation, policies and initiatives.

We are particularly happy to see Greater Moncton well-represented in cabinet. The appointments of Robert McKee, Claire Johnson, Robert Gauvin and Lyne Chantal Boudreau reflect the importance of our region to the well-being of the entire province.

As a Chamber representing more than 950 businesses in the Greater Moncton area, we are also eager to engage with new ministers and portfolios that touch our members, including René Legacy in Finance, John Dornan in Health, Cindy Miles in Social Development, Chuck Chiasson in Transportation and Infrastructure, Alyson Townsend in Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, Jean-Claude D’Amours as minister responsible for immigration, Luke Randall in Economic Development, Small Business and ONB, and David Hickey as the minister for NB Housing.

As you know, the Moncton CMA is the fastest growing census metropolitan area in Canada – for two consecutive years. Our biggest challenges are those related to this unprecedented growth, and we need a new partnership with the provincial government to navigate these challenges.

Our members have told us they are particularly concerned about health care, housing, homelessness and property tax reform. We know you and your government will be busy in the next few weeks getting ready for the opening of a new session of the legislature on November 19. But we would like to extend an invitation to sit down with our Chamber board and team soon – and hopefully before the Christmas break – to begin the work of collaborating for even greater growth.

If Greater Moncton prospers, all of New Brunswick prospers. We look forward to working with you, your ministers and MLAs to ensure that prosperity continues.

Sincerely,

Kim Wilson
