Winners named for Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton 2023 Business Excellence Awards

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton

celebrates Small Business Week by hosting the 38th annual Business Excellence Awards

Moncton (NB) – The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton honoured 10 deserving Greater Moncton businesses during the 38th annual Business Excellence Awards held Friday, Oct. 20 at the Delta by Marriott BeausĂ©jour.


The winners emerged from a list of 90 nominees in 10 categories to claim the much-prized Business Excellence Award.

“The theme of this year’s awards was ‘Soaring to New Heights’ and the winners certainly exemplify that,” said Chamber CEO John Wishart. “The more than 90 companies nominated, our 30 finalists and 10 winners are a testament to the vitality of our business community.”

Again, this year, the award for Businessperson of the Year was presented. This award is determined by the Chamber’s Board of Directors and celebrates individuals who are true community leaders of Greater Moncton.

   
The winners in each category were:

  • Young Entrepreneur: Tire Shack Brewing Co.
  • Emerging Business: Mimziz Macaron
  • Give Back to the Community: Assomption Vie / Assumption Life
  • Newcomer Entrepreneur: The Latin Corner
  • Innovation: Vimsoft Inc.
  • Non-Profit Organization of the Year: Harvest House Atlantic Inc.
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Moncton Community Residences Inc.
  • Excellence in Business (SME): HOST Management
  • Excellence in Business: Fancy Pokket Corporation
  • Businessperson of the Year: Debbie McInnis, United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick
  • Milestone Club: Baker Tilly, Downtown Moncton Centre-Ville, National Bank, RD Maclean.

Presenting sponsor again this year was RBC Wealth Management, Community Sponsor was Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport, Reception Sponsor was Portfolio Solutions Group and Wine Sponsor was Liberty Utilities.

Individual award categories were sponsored by Assumption Life, BDC, CPA New Brunswick, J.D. Irving Limited, municipalities of Dieppe, Moncton, and Riverview, NBCC, Opportunities New Brunswick, Scotiabank, and Wilson Insurance.

This year’s supporting sponsors were Expansion Dieppe, the municipalities of Moncton and Riverview, PAL Airlines, Pioneer Estate, Advocate, Epoch Chemistry, and the Greater Moncton Realtors.
 
Medavie Blue Cross sponsored the Milestone Club created in 2018 to recognize members for their long-term success and commitment to the Chamber. This year, four companies were inducted, all of whom have been Chamber members for more than 40 years: Baker Tilly, Downtown Moncton Centre-Ville, National Bank, and RD MacLean.  


“When a business has been in operation for so many years, they are obviously doing a lot of things right,” Wishart said. “The Milestone Club is a kind of business hall of fame for Greater Moncton and this year’s inductees are certainly worthy.”
 
Each of the award categories was adjudicated by an independent judging panel representing a cross-section of Greater Moncton’s business community. The Businessperson of the Year award has been chosen by the Board of Directors of the CCGM.
 
Each award winner and the other finalists in each category received an engraved glass trophy.
